On October 13, Mr. Jonathan Brasnett,
Consul General of Canada in Chongqing, visited West China Hospital, Sichuan
University (WCH). Party Secretary Cheng Yongzhong, Executive Vice Dean Wang
Kunjie, and directors from relevant administrative departments attended the
meeting.

In his remarks, Party Secretary Cheng noted
that the founding of WCH is deeply rooted in a historical connection with the
Canadian medical community. WCH has maintained long-standing friendly ties with
leading Canadian universities and medical institutions, and several Canadian
dignitaries have visited the hospital over the years, forging a strong bond of
medical cooperation between the two sides. He announced that WCH will establish
a West China-Canada Overseas Center in Toronto and is leading the effort to
form a China-Canada Hospital Alliance. He expressed the hope that the Consulate
General would provide support in advancing practical cooperation in medicine,
personnel exchanges, and research projects between China and Canada.

Consul General Brasnett expressed his
gratitude for the warm reception. He stated that the Consulate General will
fully leverage its role as a bridge to further explore collaboration
opportunities between WCH and Canadian medical institutions. He pledged active
support for the establishment of the West China-Canada Overseas Center in
Toronto and for advancing personnel exchanges and research collaboration
between the two sides.
During the meeting, the two parties held
thorough discussions and pragmatic consultations on the follow-up
implementation of China-Canada medical exchanges. After the meeting, Consul
General Brasnett and his delegation, accompanied by Executive Vice Dean Wang
Kunjie, toured the History Museum.
