Recently, one of the most influential international consensus meetings in the field of portal hypertension—the 8th Baveno Consensus Workshop, organized by the Baveno Cooperation—was held in Baveno, Italy. Associate Professor Luo Xuefeng from the Department of Gastroenterology of West China Hospital, Sichuan University was invited to attend as a member of the expert panel and participated in discussions on multiple key topics as well as in the development of the consensus.
The meeting focused on key clinical issues in portal hypertension, featuring four main sessions and nine sub-sessions. It highlighted frontier areas such as non-invasive assessment, early intervention in high-risk populations, and real-world studies, promoting the advancement of diagnostic and treatment strategies toward greater precision and standardization.
Associate Professor Luo Xuefeng’s participation as a member of the expert panel not only reflects our hospital’s international academic influence in the field of portal hypertension, but also helps incorporate Chinese experience and population characteristics into international consensus. It further promotes high-level clinical research and the translation of outcomes, and enhances our hospital’s international voice in this field.
