On the afternoon of August 18, Zambia's
Minister of Health, Elijah J. Muchima, led a delegation to visit West China
Hospital, Sichuan University. President Luo Fengming and representatives from
relevant departments attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice President
Cao Yu.
President Luo Fengming extended a warm
welcome to the delegation from Zambia's Ministry of Health. He reviewed the
long-term friendly cooperation between our hospital and African countries,
especially the fine tradition of continuously sending medical teams to support
Africa. He noted that this visit marks a new starting point for cooperation
between the two sides. He hopes that in the future, there will be in-depth
cooperation in areas such as sharing of radiological medical technology,
clinical skills training, cultivation of high-level medical talents, and joint
scientific research. He also looks forward to visiting Zambia's medical
institutions to promote the implementation of cooperation projects.
Minister Elijah J. Muchima expressed his
gratitude to our hospital and highly praised its contributions in medical aid
and technical support. He pointed out that Zambia urgently needs to improve in
basic medical facilities, telemedicine capabilities, medical staff training,
disease prevention and control systems, and medical education standards. He
hopes that this visit will serve as an opportunity to expand cooperation with
West China Hospital in telemedicine collaboration, joint research projects, and
student and faculty exchanges, to boost the development of Zambia's medical and
health sector.
