Zambia's Minister of Health visits WCH to strengthen medical cooperation

On the afternoon of August 18, Zambia's Minister of Health, Elijah J. Muchima, led a delegation to visit West China Hospital, Sichuan University. President Luo Fengming and representatives from relevant departments attended the meeting, which was chaired by Vice President Cao Yu.

President Luo Fengming extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Zambia's Ministry of Health. He reviewed the long-term friendly cooperation between our hospital and African countries, especially the fine tradition of continuously sending medical teams to support Africa. He noted that this visit marks a new starting point for cooperation between the two sides. He hopes that in the future, there will be in-depth cooperation in areas such as sharing of radiological medical technology, clinical skills training, cultivation of high-level medical talents, and joint scientific research. He also looks forward to visiting Zambia's medical institutions to promote the implementation of cooperation projects.

 

Minister Elijah J. Muchima expressed his gratitude to our hospital and highly praised its contributions in medical aid and technical support. He pointed out that Zambia urgently needs to improve in basic medical facilities, telemedicine capabilities, medical staff training, disease prevention and control systems, and medical education standards. He hopes that this visit will serve as an opportunity to expand cooperation with West China Hospital in telemedicine collaboration, joint research projects, and student and faculty exchanges, to boost the development of Zambia's medical and health sector.

This visit has laid a more solid foundation for cooperation between the two sides. Moving forward, our hospital will establish a regular communication mechanism with the Zambian side, refine cooperation plans, and jointly create a model for China-Africa medical cooperation.
