Recently, the European Association for the
Study of the Liver (EASL) published the "EASL Clinical Practice Guidelines
on TIPS" in the Journal of Hepatology (Impact Factor: 26.8). Associate
Professor Luo Xuefeng from the Department of Gastroenterology of West China
Hospital was the only invited Chinese doctor to participate in the development
of these guidelines. The guidelines cite several clinical studies from our
hospital, fully demonstrating the experience and achievements of the West China
Gastroenterology team in the field of portal vein therapy.
Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic
Shunt (TIPS) is an effective treatment technique for complications of portal
hypertension. In recent years, TIPS has seen rapid development in technical
methods, prognostic models, and expanded clinical indications. The EASL
guidelines comprehensively explore preoperative assessment and selection for
TIPS, bleeding, ascites and renal function, postoperative follow-up, hepatic
encephalopathy, and special cases (hepatocellular carcinoma and liver
transplantation), providing valuable references for related treatments.
