On Nov. 15th, the 2022 China-UK University Forum on Medical Innovation Cooperation hosted by Sichuan University and the University of Oxford and organized by WCH was held both online and offline in Chengdu, attended by more than 20 universities in China and Britain. Chas Bountra, Vice Chancellor of the University of Oxford, David James Kerr, member of the British Academy of Medical Sciences and tenured professor of oncology of the University of Oxford, Jon Frampton, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, Stephen Ellison, British Consul General in Chongqing, Yang Pinhua, deputy director of the Science & Technology Department of Sichuan Province, Zhao Lei, director of European Division of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Ministry of Education, Yao Leye, vice president of SCU, Zhang Wei, deputy party secretary of SCU, Ye Ling, vice president of SCU, Li Weimin, president of WCH, Wang Kunjie, vice president of WCH, as well as the experts and scholars from Imperial College London, University College London, University of Nottingham, Peking University and Fudan University, and representatives from WCH’s relevant departments joined this event.
At the forum, Professor Mark Middleton, head of the Oncology Department of the University of Oxford, Jon Frampton, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Birmingham, Academician Qiao Jie, executive vice president of Peking University, and Zhang Wei, deputy party secretary of SCU, gave keynote speeches on topics like “jointly promote the high-quality development of health and wellness through Learning, research and application”, “technology promotes the reform of medicine and new (full life cycle) health service system”, and “the construction of the medical consortium between Chinese and British universities” and so on. In the round-table discussion, President Li Weimin of WCH, Professor Nick Brown, Dean of Linacre College, University of Oxford, and the attending guests discussed the cooperation mode and the further development of the consortium.
