On December 12th, the opening ceremony of
the "West China Hospital of Sichuan University–Indonesia Ministry of
Health Coronary Intervention Physician Training Program" was held at our
hospital. Five doctors from Indonesia will undergo a one-year systematic
clinical training in coronary intervention within the Cardiology Department.
This marks the official launch of another specialized training program under
the medical cooperation framework of the China-Indonesia "Health Silk
Road." Mr. Li Hanchao, China Advisor to the Indonesian Ministry of Health;
Ms. Shi Xinyu, Assistant to the Training Program; and the medical team from the
Cardiology Department of WCH attended the event.
This training program originates from the
cooperation memorandum signed between the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the
National Health Commission of China in 2022. Our hospital has been designated
as a key collaborative hospital in western China for this initiative due to its
achievements in the field of cardiovascular intervention.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Li Hanchao
briefly introduced the current status and developmental needs of cardiovascular
disease diagnosis and treatment in Indonesia. He expressed that the specialized
training jointly conducted by West China Hospital and the Indonesian Ministry
of Health not only deepens the friendly relations between the two countries but
also serves as a vivid practice of promoting people-to-people connectivity
through medical exchange. Dr. He Yong, Professpr and Head of the Coronary Heart
Disease Subspecialty in the Cardiology Department of our hospital, highlighted
the department's disciplinary strengths, clinical features, and teaching
achievements in the field of coronary intervention. Peng Yong, Deputy Director
of Education in the Cardiology Department, emphasized that the training program
will leverage West China Hospital's robust clinical resources and faculty
expertise. Each trainee will be assigned a one-on-one mentor and provided with
a tailored, systematic, and highly practical training curriculum. Through
theoretical learning, case discussions, and observation of catheterization room
operations, the program aims to help trainees refine their coronary
intervention techniques and accumulate experience in diagnosing and treating complex
cases.
