On the morning of June 28, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Jinjiang campus of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University was officially started. The new campus is located at the intersection of Chenglong Road and Jinjiang Avenue in Jinjiang District, Chengdu City. It covers an area of about 169 mu, with a construction scale of 179,000 ㎡, 1300 beds, and an average daily outpatient and emergency service volume of about 5,000 patients. The construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2023.
The Jinjiang Campus of West China Hospital of Sichuan University would have characteristics like internationalization, modernization, standardization, and wisdom of the medical environment; it will integrate outpatient services, examinations, hospitalization, and treatment in the same building; its medical technical force and management team will all be coming from the main campus. The new campus enjoys the same level of medical treatment, management and operation as the main campus. After completion, the Jinjiang Campus will mainly undertake the diagnosis and treatment of acute and complex diseases such as trauma first aid, disaster treatment, neurological diseases, pediatric surgery, and infectious diseases. At the same time, it will bear the responsibility of regional medical and health services. It will actively explore a new model of MDT service through a new, scientific and reasonable process and spatial layout to comprehensively improve the quality of medical services and patient treatment experience.
The Campus will also have the function of a national-level public health disaster treatment platform, which is able to improve the level of medical emergency rescue for public health emergencies and major disasters in the southwest region.
WCH strives to build the Jinjiang Campus into one of the most advanced, scientific, and with the highest configuration and medical service quality in China. It would provide more favorable supporting conditions for talent training and discipline construction of Sichuan University. And it will strongly support Chengdu's "Eastward Strategy" and the development of the twin-city economic circle in Chengdu-Chongqing area.
