Macquarie University’s hearing delegation visits WCH

On the afternoon of April 22, a delegation from Macquarie University from Australia, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Patrick McNeil, visited West China Hospital (WCH). Vice President Wang Kunjie warmly met with the delegation in the hospital's Administration Building, where representatives from our hospital's Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Department and International Office also attended the meeting.

Vice President Wang extended a warm welcome to the delegation and provided a brief overview of WCH's basic situation, highlighting our long-standing commitment to international cooperation and our dedication to promoting innovation and enhancing the quality of medical services through exchanges. Deputy Vice-Chancellor McNeil gave a detailed introduction to the organizational structure, current development, and distinctive specialties of Macquarie University's Faculty of Medicine, with a particular emphasis on audiology as a key area of education and research, and the strong partnerships established with various enterprises. He also highlighted the significant role played by the Australian Hearing Hub in integrating education, scientific research, and practice.

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as collaborative audiology research projects, academic exchange activities, and the development of university-enterprise cooperation, reaching a consensus to carry out deeper cooperation in the field of hearing screening and talent cultivation to jointly promote the development of audiology.
