West China Hospital has achieved a significant milestone, ranking 10th in the world in the latest Nature Index, which includes data from December 1, 2021 to November 30, 2022. The hospital's article count (AC) of 141 and fractional count (FC) of 50.30 secured its place as the top medical institution in China and 10th globally. The top 20 medical institutions consisted of 17 from the United States, 2 from China, and 1 from Italy.

Nature Communications was found to be the journal with the highest contribution to West China Hospital's publications, followed by Advanced Materials, Analytical Chemistry, and Organic Letters. The hospital's research in medical materials, biochemistry, and general fields were found to have a major contribution to its research direction.

In terms of research output data included in the Nature Index, West China Hospital's research is mainly concentrated in the fields of chemistry, life science, and physics, with the highest contribution coming from chemistry.
