Professor Yang Li hired as a visiting professor at Oxford University

On May 25th, Professor Yang Li, director of the Department of Gastroenterology in our hospital and Chinese director of Sichuan University-the University of Oxford Huaxi Joint Center for Gastrointestinal Cancer, was officially appointed by the University of Oxford as a visiting professor for her achievements in the field of gastroenterology and her contribution to the joint research center. 

The joint center was formally established in May 2020. The center focuses on digestive tract tumors and conducts all-round cooperation around digestive system diseases, aiming to promote the development of digestive disciplines. At present, the joint research center has gradually developed into a platform for exchanges and cooperation between the two universities and even global peer scholars, carrying out high-quality joint research and producing fruitful results, and publishing SCI papers in top journals such as The Lancet Oncology, Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, and Ebiomedicine. Base on the joint center, scholars has jointly applied for a number of national, provincial and ministerial scientific research projects. It was also committed to jointly cultivating young scholars and introducing top international talents in the field to Sichuan University and West China Hospital.

Professor Yang Li’s appointment of visiting professor reflected Oxford University's support and recognition of her work and the achievement of the joint research center. Professor David Kerr, academician of the British Academy of Medical Sciences, tenured professor of oncology at the University of Oxford, British director of the joint research center, and honorary professor of Sichuan University, extended warm congratulations to Professor Yang Li on her appointment as a visiting professor.
