WCH holds the first “West China-UPMC Cloud Dialogue”

On the evening of Nov. 17, the first activity of the “Cloud Dialogue” series jointly sponsored by WCH and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) was officially launched, with the first theme of “Discovery of Heart-Frontier Development and Opportunities of Cardiology”. Professor Chen Mao, director of WCH’s Department of Cardiology, Associate Professor Zhao Zhen’gang, and representatives of the International Office, as well as Professor Matthew Harinstein, deputy chief medical officer of UPMC & associate professor of the Cardiology Department of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Professor Prem Soman, deputy director of the Cardiology Department of UPMC’s Heart and Vascular Center, and Manling Zhang, assistant professor of the Cardiology Department of University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, exchanged opinions online, attracting more than 4,000 viewers.

During the exchanges, Professor Chen Mao, Professor Matthew Harinstein, Professor Prem Soman and Professor Manling Zhang gave keynote speeches on “TAVI in Bicuspid Aortic Valve: Current Practice and Unresolved Issues”, “The Importance of a Cardio-Oncology Program for Patients with Cancer”, “The Transformative Effects of Nuclear Cardiology on Cardiac Amyloidosis” and “Treatment of Advanced Heart Failure”, respectively, as well as shared their research results, problems encountered in scientific research work and explored the common scientific research concerns and potential cooperation opportunities.

Since the formal signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between WCH and UPMC in 2019, the two sides carried out extensive cooperation in the fields of medicine, teaching and research, and successfully developed several online academic exchanges and training programs in the fields of sports medicine, nursing and imaging technology.
