President Li Weimin elected IAQS academy member

On July 7th, the International Academy of Quality and Safety (IAQS, International Academy of Quality and Safety in Health Care) held its 2020 Academy Member Meeting online. President Li Weimin of West China Hospital attended the meeting as a newly elected academy member of the Institute.

IAQS was established in 2018 by The International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua). The academy member election aims to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions in research, academics or services in the field of medical quality and safety. Academy members are one of the highest honors that individuals working in this field can obtain. In the recent selection meeting of newly elected academy members, Professor Li Weimin of WCH was elected as a permanent academy member of the International Academy of Medical Quality and Safety Science. At present, there are a total of 80 members, two of whom are from China.

It is understood that each pre-selected new member needs to be nominated and recommended by two academy members, and after a discussion by all members, the written review and voting will be adopted. This year, many nominated candidates from around the world were recommended, of which only 25 well-known scholars have finally obtained the title of permanent academy member of the college after strict review procedures. In this review, Professor Li Weimin became the only elected permanent academy member in China, and others elected members came from the United States, Australia, Sweden, Canada, Armenia, the Netherlands, Malawi, Brazil, Nigeria, Mexico, and India.
